Australia’s tour of South Africa is the team’s only away Test series scheduled for 2026 so this will be big!

This will be Australia’s first tour of South Africa since the spicy visit of 2018 when Faf du Plessis’ side overcame a first Test loss to beat the Aussies 3-1 in the series.

Australia in South Africa

Australia first toured South Africa in 1902 and dominated the early encounters with South Africa not winning a series until 1966/67. After their re-entry into world cricket the sides fought out back-to-back drawn series before South Africa struggled against the dominant Australian sides of the 90s and 2000s.

South Africa finally turned the tables on their 2008/09 tour of Australia and since then have won four of the last eight series, with one drawn series and three Aussie wins.

The 2026 tour will no doubt feature some new faces in the Australian colours looking to overcome the demons of 2018!

Match Schedule

The tour is currently scheduled to run from the last week of September through until the end of October and will include three Tests and three ODIs.

Back in 2018 the Tests were played at South Africa’s iconic cricketing venues:

• Kingsmead Cricket Ground, Durban
  
• St George's Park, Port Elizabeth
  
• Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town
  
• Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

As well as the cricket we will enjoy some of the magnificent sightseeing highlights of South Africa and its neighbours. Past tours have visited the country’s national parks and game reserves, the spectacular coastline and wineries of the Western Cape plus the natural wonders of Victoria Falls and Botswana’s wildlife sanctuaries.
